It this world full of violence and gang crimes, someone tries to change things, and this happens. Why would anyone want to harm someone helping them?
Could it be money? Power? Control? Evil? Maybe all of the above? Crime and violence relating to gangs must generate cash somehow and I’m sure the head gangbangers whatever they are called don’t want anything or anyone to take their power away. This is a sad case and just proves helping doesn’t always work.
Clarence “Sadiq” Venable, a community leader training to end gang violence, was brutally murdered on Friday, just steps from his anti-violence training center.
His longtime friend, City Councilman Trayon White (DC-Ward 8), remembers the 40-year-old Venable as a great spirit, loving father, dedicated community leader, and funny and kind through it all.
“His spirit was so vibrant,” says White. “He could change the room just by him being present. He had a loud spirit.”
