H.R. 3265 – 3D Printed Guns Act
Let’s start with the obvious; a printer which can print high enough quality is expensive. Maybe not to the idiots writing this stuff but for everyone else. Before I spend $10k on a printer, I could buy a lot of real guns which don’t disintegrate upon firing a couple of times.for now it is a novelty, or prototype creator maybe even for proof of concept but not to just make guns to play with.
next, think about what makes a gun work. The cartridge has a primer unless it’s a tiny rim fire and when the firing pin or hammer strikes it, it goes bang and the bullet is forced out of the barrel after the burning gunpowder expands the pressure in the chamber. This is the tricky part, will a plastic firing pin or hammer cause the gun to fire? Not that I’ve ever heard of. So,this means a metal firing pin or hammer is required thus negating the ‘undetectable part.
always read these things because they are written by folks without knowledge on the topic. I’m no expert yet I know more than they do on this. Just read the bill, what I’ve pointed out comes from just the beginning of the document.
